Georgia is located in the Black Sea coast in the southwestern part of the Caucasus region, it is close to Russia on the north, and borders with Turkey, Armenia and, Azerbaijan on the south.

Georgia covers an area of 69,700 square kilometers (including South Ossetia and Abkhazia). The main ethnic groups are Georgian. The official language is Georgian, and most of its population speaks Russian. Most of the population are Orthodox believers, while a small number believe in Islam. The capital is Tbilisi.

Georgia was once the Soviet union republic, and it is Stalin's hometown. On April 9, 1991 it officially declared its independence, and the first president was Zviard Gamsaghurdia. The country after independence is named as "the Republic of Georgia". On August 24, 1995, the country adopted a new constitution, and the country name is "Georgia". It is a former member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, while after a five-day war with Russia in August 2008, Georgia decided to withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States on August 14, and on August 18, 2009 it formally exited after completing the formalities.

On October 28, 2015, the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly re-elected members of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Georgia was successfully elected with a term from 2016 to 2018.
