Thailand is a constitutional monarchy in Southeast Asia. Thailand is located in the middle of the Indochina Peninsula. It borders with Burma and the Andaman Sea on the west and north, is close to Laos on the northeast, is near to Cambodia on the southeast and is connected to Malaysia with its long peninsula.

Thailand, whose old name is Siam and on May 11, 1949, the Thai people used their own national name and changed the "Siam" into "Thai", mainly taking the meaning of "free".

Thailand adopts liberal economic policy and is one of the "Four Little Tigers of Asia" during the 1990s, during which it underwent a period of rapid economic development. However, it suffered major setbacks in the 1998 "economic crisis" and then plunged into recession and stagnation. It is one of the world's emerging industrial countries and one of the world's emerging market economies. Manufacturing, agriculture and tourism are the major sectors of its economy. Thailand is the only net exporter of grain in Asia, and it is also one of the world's top five agricultural exporters. Electronics industry and other manufacturing industries are developing rapidly, and changes to the industrial structure are obvious. The automotive industry is the pillar industry, and it is the Southeast Asian automobile manufacturing center and ASEAN's largest auto market.

Thailand is one of the world's most famous tourist destinations. Thailand is a Buddhist country, and most Thai people believe in Erawan. Buddhists account for more than 90% of the population.

Thailand is a member and a founding member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
