The European Union, known as EU for short, with its headquarters in Brussels, capital of Belgium, was developed by the European Community with six founding member countries, namely, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The Union now has 28 Member Countries and 24 official languages.

In December 1991, the Maastricht Summit of the European Community adopted the Treaty of the European Union, commnly known as the Treaty of Maastricht (hereinafter referred to as the "Treaty of Maastricht"). On November 1, 1993, "Mayo" officially entered into force, and the EU was born. In 2012, the EU won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The President of the European Council is Tusk, and the President of the European Parliament is Martin Schulz. Juncker, Former Prime Minister of Luxembourg serves as the Rotating President of the European Commission.

The Treaty of the European Union has been amended for several times and, by 2014, the European Union has been operated in accordance with the Lisbon Treaty. Politically all members are democratic countries (2008 "Economist" democratic state survey), economically it is the world's largest economic entity (Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom are among the eight industrial countries), and militarily most of the States members of the European Union are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
