Barbados is located at the eastern end of the Lesser Antilles Island of East Caribbean, and it is coral limestone island. Surrounded by the sea, it faces St. Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Grenada across the water.

Barbados has a solid democracy and became independent on November 30, 1966. It is a member of the Commonwealth and its name comes from the Portuguese, referring to the wild fig tree everywhere.

In 2013, Barbados’s gross domestic product hit $ 4,262 million and per capita gross domestic product reached $ 15,293. Its economy is dominated by sugar cane cultivation and processing, rum, and tourism.

Barbados is a part of the small Antilles and a Caribbean tourist attraction.
